GIN SCHOOL
The Castle at Edgehill is steeped in local, English history – overlooking the site of the Battle of Edgehill, which took place on 23rd October 1642. The tower was built 100 years later by Sanderson Miller and is said to mark the spot where King Charles I raised the standard before the two sides clashed. The tower, also known as the ‘Radway’ or ‘Round Tower’, was intended to replicate Guy’s Tower at nearby Warwick Castle.

At the Castle Gin School, you will take charge of a mini copper pot still to develop your very own gin recipe, by choosing from our extensive range of citrus, herbal, floral and spice botanicals, or alternatively you can bring your own along. At the very end of the session, you will be able to bottle and label your own unique creation in a 70cl bottle. You can also join us for one of our shorter, informative taster sessions, where you will get to try the full range of spirits produced by Pinnock Distillery.

*Please note, the gin school is situated at the top of the Radway Tower. To reach the school, you will be required to climb 57 stairs, 20 of which are a narrow, spiral staircase. FAQs
Is my gift voucher refundable?
No, gin school vouchers are non-refundable and cannot be used as value towards bar/restaurant/retail purchases.

How do I redeem my gift voucher?
Select a day that you would like to redeem your voucher for on the system. Once you've entered your details, you will be prompted to redeem your E Voucher code on the payment page.

How long is a voucher valid for?
Your gift voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and can be redeemed on any available gin school lesson within that time period (subject to availability).

Can I apply my gift voucher to other products or services?
No. Gin school gift vouchers must be redeemed on gin school experiences only.

Can I cancel my booking?
We require a minimum of 7 days notice for all cancellations and all bookings made by gift vouchers are non-refundable. If you wish to cancel your booking within 7 days, your booking will be charged in full.
Can I reschedule my booking?
If you need to reschedule your booking, we require a minimum of 7 days notice prior to your booked date. We will do our best to accommodate your request (subject to availability). If you wish to reschedule within 7 days of your booking, a £15 booking fee will apply. Please note, that we are unable to reschedule your booking more than once.

Do you allow dogs in your gin school?
Whilst The Castle is a dog-friendly pub, due to the location and nature of the gin school, we do not permit dogs in the distillery itself.

I’ve purchased ‘the ultimate gin’ experience for two persons. Do we both create a bottle of gin?
‘The ultimate gin experience for two’ entitles two people to a place at the Gin school where they will share one mini copper pot still to make one 70cl bottle of gin to share, although a second empty bottle can be purchased on the day to split the gin between two.

Is it possible to arrange a private group lesson at the gin school?
Yes, we do offer exclusive use of the gin school. Please contact The Castle at Edgehill directly to enquire about exclusive use.

Do you have disabled access at the gin school?
Unfortunately, there is no lift facility at our Gin School, so we cannot accommodate those requiring disabled access. However, the bar/restaurant downstairs does permit those requiring disabled access, as such, please contact theginschool@freespiritpubs.co.uk to discuss alternative arrangements prior to booking tickets.

How long is a gin school lesson?
The ‘ultimate gin experience’ is approximately 3 hours long. The tasting session is approximately 1 hour.
